One must understand and adapt ITIL to make it work. In Sweden we have a fairly uniform way to handle IT delivery, which means that 80% of the adjustment will be equal, regardless of size and focus of the IT organization.

This is were the The Rational IT Model (TRIM) comes into the picture. The model puts together the common 80%, but also describes how everything is connected. You can instead concentrate on adapting what is truly unique and the actual introduction.

The purpose of the model is that more IT organizations have the ability to more easily get the effect of service management instead of spending time building processes. TRIM is a complete model based on ITIL for your IT organization.
